Transformers: Animated (2008) The TF Animated toys are out in June 2008, But the 90-minute TF Animated Movie premieres Dec 26, 2007 at 8 p.m. (January 1, 2008 at 7 p.m. on YTV Canada) + the show starts Jan 5, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. (Saturday, January 12 at 9:30 AM E/P on YTV Canada), all on Cartoon Network. Hasbro and CN will partner on the 2-D ANIMATED series, which offers a new twist on the original 1984 series with each of the 26 episodes presented as a STANDALONE STORYLINE, not set in the Michael Bay Movie universe, featuring EVERYDAY HEROES who do good deeds that triumph over evil. The Autobots (now with even more human qualities/expressions) will battle human super-villains like Nanosec (a Flash on rollerblades), Angry Archer and Prometheus (but a lot less than was originally planned) more often than the Decepticons. Set on Earth in 22nd century Detroit, Michigan, the alien Transformers are thrust into a world populated by humans (Sari and her father Isaac Sumdac, Police Chief Captain Fanzone (homage to Detroit, Michigan' Carmen Fanzone: Boston Red Sox, Chicago Cubs Baseball player)) and little robots/automatons (the TF start the robotics industry by chance). As visitors to Earth, Optimus Prime (fresh to the role of leadership), Bumblebee, Prowl, Bulkhead and Ratchet work in the human world, interacting with the 'natives' in exciting and humorous ways. TF Animated has been created to showcase the heroic Autobots working together to battle the evil Decepticons and save Earth with kid-relatable plot lines filled with humor, distinctive character personalities, and dynamic action. The series kicks off as a Saturday morning series in January 2008 before expanding to 5 times a week later in the year. A 90-minute series premiere (The Ark and The Nemesis spaceships are featured + People/places/things/events from Generation One will be mentioned) special is also in the works. The supervising director is Matt Youngberg (The Batman, Teen Titans) and the executive producer is Sam Register (Ben 10, Teen Titans). Marty Isenberg (Danny Phantom, X-Men, TMNT) acts as head writer. The show, co-produced by Cartoon Network Studios, will be supported on TV, as well as through Web-based initiatives and product/promotional partnerships.
